We’ve got troubles. Are you afraid of multiplying dangers, angry at the dysfunctional status quo and hungry for a practical path to a sustainable future? How can we “form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity”?
We will succeed when we can come together and practice great democracy. Any form of democracy is a gift of opportunity. We currently take advantage of only a small bit of this opportunity and consequently have far from a perfect Union.
There are two keys to great democracy: 1) self-knowledge–knowing who and where I am and who and where we are, and 2) communication and problem-solving skills so that we can aggregate the wisdom of the community and get the highest and best solutions to the problems that we face.
This blog is about building our understanding and our skills so that we can do better. I’m finding that getting started blogging is a challenge; I’ve been reluctant to jump into a moving stream. By necessity and nature a blog is a frequent response to current events. There is no pattern or order from one entry to the next and I have a strong need for orderly thoughts. Ah well, here goes…
